With so many fun blogging events happening lately, new and interesting websites popping up, a new page on DDD, and lots of recipes being made by all of you, I decided to devote an entire post just to “news.” Instead of a recipe today, I’m asking for your questions: what would you like to know about the ACD that I can add to the brand-new DDD Candida FAQ page?

Over the past month (and starting this month), I’ve been fortunate enough to take part in several original and exciting blog events. Many of these occur weekly, so you can also participate in some of these yourself–just check out the details.

XGFX Community. I’m also thrilled to announce the launch of the new All Gluten-Free Site devoted to Vegan Food: XGFX Community! (a little late, but better late than glutenous, right?) The site was lovingly designed by Kittee of Cake Maker to the Stars, Jessy of Happy VeganFace, and Allyson of Manifest:Vegan. Check out their handiwork and all of the fabulous GF resources they share on the site!
Replenish PDX. I just discovered Andrea’s site a few weeks ago after she contacted me about a recipe on my blog. One visit and I knew we were kindred spirits! I’ve since spoken with Andrea and learned about her own journey toward healthy eating and how it’s similar in many ways to mine. I was also delighted to discover that our food philosophies and focus on eating real, unprocessed, sugar-free ingredients were totally compatible. If you’re in the area and seek health counselling or nutritional advice, check out her site . She also offers a variety of online homestudy courses such as Sweet Tooth, Bitter Truth, (which features a recipe by yours truly).
This Dish is Veg. If you’re not yet familiar with this multi-faceted site (their subtitle is “Dishing up Animal Rights, Vegan, Vegetarian, Eco-friendly NEWS) devoted to all things vegetarian, it’s well worth a visit. TDIV offers the latest news stories, vegetarian and vegan recipes, a directory of all things veg*n, and more. I write occasional articles for the site, which is currently seeking more writers, photographers, and bloggers. Their sister site is the recipes-only No Meat Zone.
II. DDD In Your Kitchen
You folks sure have been cooking up a storm! As always, I am totally tickled when any one of you tries out a DDD recipe and love to share what you’ve been making! Here are some of the recipes you’ve told me about or linked to on the blog:
- Cheryl made Maple Flax Cookies using quinoa flakes (I’ve been wanting to make these without gluten or sugar myself);
- Reader Danika tried out the Chiles en Nogado and while she’s never had the original version (neither have I), she was very happy with these!
- Strawberry Chia Fluff was enjoyed by Karyn (who tried it with blueberries–”excellent!”), Eating Like a Horse (with mixed berries); Emma (who made it with raspberries and served it with shortbread–swoon!); and reader Laila (who used mixed berries as well).
- Magda baked up Potato Boats with Herbs, and reports that her onmivorous hubby even licked his fingers!;
- Angela mixed up a Giant Baked Upside Down Apple Pancake;
- Brooke enjoyed Coconut Pancakes for a light dinner (I think we should all have breakfast for dinner regularly, don’t you?);
- Heather treated herself to Raw Lemon Poppyseed Bars;
- Iris’s mom made some Grab and Go Breakfast Bars as a snack while traveling;
- Valerie made Mock Chopped Liver and remarked that it’s as good as Whole Foods’ version (wow–must now taste that one!);
- Gretchen mixed up Warm Artichoke and Chickpea Salad, a staple in her home;
- Pupcake at Antler Pie used Faux Meat Crumbles in a tasty lasagna, then again in veggie burgers (please post that recipe soon!);
- Sophie loved the quick Chocolate Almond “Mousse”;
- Reader Stacy McKee baked the Polish Lemon Cake for her husband’s birthday;
- Julia made the Mocha Cereal Cinnamon Muffins and pointed out that agave was in the ingredients, but not the directions (fixed now)–glad they came out yummy anyway!;
- Emma cooked up some Tagine of Quinoa with Chickpeas, Olives and Prunes;
- Healthy Mama blog made Almond Crusted Carrot and Parsnip Fries; carrot/parsnip fries; and
- Heather J made Happy Hemp Two-Bite Brownies after I
coercedsuggested to her that she buy coconut sugar (thankfully, she loves it).
All this talk of recipes and cooking is making me pretty hungry, Mum. . . I hope you won’t forget to include Chaser and my dinner in all that food, right?
- Savvy Vegetarian site posted a stellar review of Sweet Freedom;
- Everything Mom included my Molten Lava Cakes in their veggie-dessert roundup;
- Clean Eating Magazine posted two of my recipes that previously appeared in the magazine (Almond-Orange Chocolate Cake and Blackberry and Peach Cobblers);
- TasteTO featured Strawberry Chia Fluff on their site;
- The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel included my Almond-Crusted Root Vegetable Fries in an article on healthy fries;
- XGFX Community reviewed my ebook, Desserts without Compromise. “The result is really fudge-like but without that sugary, grainy texture that regular fudge has. . . . . and the flavour was perfect.”

III. New Candida FAQ Page!
Now that I’ve been following the ACD for over 2 years (and no quick end in sight. . .), I’ve become fairly familiar with the details of the diet, the kinds of hurdles you face when you cut out half of your favorite ingredients in one fell swoop, and how to deal with some of the less palatable aspects of eating yeast-free (such as what to do when you’re invited to a friend’s for dinner). More and more, I receive emails from readers who share the same questions. Rather than repeat myself over and over in emails, I thought I’d start an FAQ page where I can answer the most common questions related to the anti-candida diet.
