A Little News. . . and Giveaway

Well, I’ve been keeping this one under my apron until I knew it was definite, but finally I am able to share some news!

[Note: photos are of recipes already on this blog. . . just click on the photo to be directed to the recipe!]

I’m writing a new cookbook!

As of this week, I have a contract with the fine folks at Sellers Publishing (who excel at producing high-quality, artistically designed, beautiful books) for a new, all gluten-free, refined-sugar free, and–of course–vegan cookbook!

This is the book many of you have been requesting for some time–and I’m so glad I can deliver!

The book will be a revised, updated and expanded version of Sweet Freedom, made to reflect more the way I cook and bake now: no gluten, with with lower glycemic sweeteners and with whole, real-food ingredients. The recipes are also allergy-friendly, with no dairy or eggs and many nut-free, soy-free and corn-free options as well. Recipes will range from breakfast foods like muffins, pancakes, biscuits and scones to cookies and bars, cakes, tarts and pies, puddings and ice creams, to raw treats and more. There will be over 30 new recipes that weren’t included in the first book. And I think they are all pretty delicious, too!

I am thrilled to be working on the book and so grateful for this opportunity.  More than anything, I want to thank all of YOU for helping to make this happen--your continued support for this blog over the years, your wonderful comments and feedback about the recipes, your ideas and advice, all were essential in moving me toward this very book. So thank you, all, for continuing to visit me here, for reading and trying out my recipes, for letting me know what you think. I couldn’t be more grateful for this wonderful food blogging community!

I want the book to be something special that DDD readers will love to own.

I hope you’ll continue to help shape the contents of the book with your continued feedback, ideas, opinions and suggestions along the way (and feel free to start in the comments below: which recipes from Sweet Freedom are “must-keep,” remade as gluten-free? Which recipes from the blog absolutely must be included? What are some new recipes you’ve been dreaming of, that you’d love for me to develop without gluten or refined sweeteners? Dish, readers!). :D

I’m ecstatic about this new book–and I decided I wanted to do something special for one of YOU, too!

In order to express my thanks, I’ve created a very special giveaway: an individualized, custom box of hand-picked goodies from me to one of you! This is not a sponsored post; I am personally choosing and purchasing each of the items on my own. The prize will contain a selection of some of my favorite products that I’ve used or promoted on the blog, some fun kitchen tools, and a few other surprises! Once I select a winner, I’ll contact you so that I can further personalize the gift. For full details, see the end of this post!

Recipe renovations have already gotten underway in the DDD kitchen, and now I need your help!

I’m seeking recipe testers and hoping that some of you will be interested (and if you’ve tested for me previously you are of course welcome to return)! The book’s current projected publication date is Fall, 2013, so the testing will begin fairly soon and will run fairly quickly.

Here are the basic recipe parameters for recipe testers:

  • All recipes are gluten-free. You must be willing to purchase a variety of gluten-free flours (especially these four in my All-Purpose Mix, which is used most often; other flours, such as brown rice flour, sorghum, quinoa or amaranth will also be used occasionally).
  • All recipes are refined sugar-free.  The most common sweeteners used in the recipes are coconut sugar, stevia, coconut nectar, and (very occasionally) agave.  I will rarely use maple syrup or brown rice syrup.
  • Most recipes will be ACD-compliant, with a few suitable for ACD maintenance.
  • All recipes are vegan, of course! ;-)
  • The testing due dates and turnaround will be fairly quick; we will test throughout mid-September through end of November, 2012. You must be willing to commit to testing at least 8 recipes in that time.
  • All testers will be acknowledged in, and receive a complimentary copy of the finished book.

If you are interested, please email me at dietdessertdogsATgmailDOTcom with the subject line, “Cookbook Tester.” I can’t wait to hear from you!

And now, THE GIVEAWAY! :D

What: A prize package of gluten-free, sugar-free foods and ingredients, kitchen tools, a cookbook, and a few other surprises, hand picked and purchased by me.  Value: minimum $75.00.

Who: Open to anyone, anywhere.

When: Giveaway open until midnight my time on Friday, September 14, 2012.

What: To enter, simply leave a comment below, telling me any or all of the following: (a) what your favorite food is; (b) what kitchen tool you’ve been wishing for [EDIT, Sept 1/12: As much as I’d LOVE to get one of you a VitaMix–and judging by the comments, that’s what most of you would like–as I mentioned, I am paying for these prizes out of my own pocket, and a VitaMix would send me waaaay over that $75 or so value for this prize!! LOL! For this item, I was thinking of smaller, hand-held kitchen tools that I could easily fit in your prize pack–like a whisk, a good knife, maybe a spiralizer, or whatever else you can think of!  But really, I do wish I could get one of you a VitaMix–sorry I can’t (hear that, VitaMix people?!)]; (c) which cookbook you wish you could have.  BONUS ENTRIES: for extra entries, you can follow me on twitter, Facebook or Pinterest; tweet about this giveaway by clicking here; subscribe to DDD; or mention this on Facebook with a link to this post.

  1. My daughter is very ill with something that has yet to be diagnosed. However, eating gluten free helps to keep her healthy, so we are learning how to prepare all of the food we eat gluten free. It helps that I am a vegetarian, since we already eat a lot of plant-based meals. I’m really excited about your cookbook!

    • Thanks so much, Kimberly! It seems as if so many people are becoming intolerant to so many things. I’m glad you were able to find something that works for your daughter. And gluten-free can be just as delish (and easy) as conventional once you get used to it!

  2. My favorite food as of right now is pizza kale chips! Yum! Can’t stop making them and eating them. If I could have any kitchen tool right now it would have to be a new juicer! Really need one of those! As far as any cook book I would have to say your upcoming one when it is released because that is the diet I follow! Gluten free, vegan and low to no sugar! Congrats on your new book to come! <3

  3. To answer the question… I just bought a spiralizer and need to test it out soon!

  4. I also follow you on Twitter

  5. Congratulations, Ricki! This is WONDERFUL news! I’ll send you an e-mail, as I’d love to test for you again.

My favorite food is fresh, organic blueberries. Thank you for the giveaway!

  6. Ricki!!! What fantastic, super-sensational news. I’m absolutely thrilled to hear you’re working on a new book. I actually pulled out my copy of Sweet Freedom this morning. i can’t wait for a copy your next book (that’s my answer to the cookbook I want!).

This book will be such a tremendous resource. You are a recipe maven with some serious secrets up your sleeve.

    I’m so excited.

  7. And I like you on Facebook!

(hopefully these entries are supposed to be separate comments! Congrats on the new book… can’t wait to see it!)

    • Heather, you should be able to enter multiple times by using the Rafflecopter form, above. Enter your comment to begin and then follow the instructions. Is that what you did? :)

  8. So excited about this giveaway! My favorite food is cake! I mean cake is my dream about, fantasize about, crave food.

  9. My favorite food and no way I’ll ever be able to eat it again is Lemon Meringue Pie. The kitchen tool I’d love to have is the Vitamix 950 and the book – Miyoko Schinner’s Artisan Vegan Cheeses, of course!

  10. My favorite food is homemade whole wheat pizza!

  11. Tracy Perry says:

Hi Ricki! My favorite food is frozen ice cream. I am Gluten Intolerant and need to also be yeast free and sugar free as possible. I just got a vitamix a few days ago and already use it 2-3 times a day for everything. no more throwing away organic fruits and veggies peels, it grinds up everything. I love learning new GF, Yeast free, dairy free and or sugar free foods. Still learning all there is to know about the different flours and baking GF but love it all and feel so much better when I eat extremely clean. Congrats on your cookbook. Follow you on Pinterest and Facebook.

  12. Wow, this is a great giveaway and really great news to boot! It’s silly but the two kitchen things I want are redundant, but would make things more streamlined. I have an ice cream maker, but I’d love to have the Kitchenaid freezer bowl instead, so I don’t have to keep an extra bulky base around. Also, I have a Vitamix, but I’m so annoyed by the stuff stuck under the blades that I’m curious about the Blentec.

  13. I’ve been wanting a mandoline. Can you believe I don’t have one? I need to thinly slice some veggies!

  14. My favourite food…probably a smoothie made with organic peaches.

  15. I love Tiramisu cake…is there a healthy version? I would really like a vitamix or other excellent blender and I wish I had a copy of the original Moosewood cookbook.
Just stumbled upon your site today and love it already!

  16. Congrats on the book!!!

My fave food would probably be coconut – anything made with shredded coconut, homemade coconut milk and of course coconut oil!

  17. Congratulations Ricki!!! How exciting for you! It seems many of my favorite bloggers are writing cookbooks right now, so I’m excited to have future reading/cooking material. My favorite food has to be oats (if you couldn’t tell by my blog name). They’re so versatile, and I love the taste!!

  18. Congrats my friend! This is wonderful, wonderful news!

  19. Hi! I’ve been longing and sighing over a Vitamix for so long and finally saved up enough money over the summer :) It’s coming next week! Wonderful giveaway!!

  20. Wow that is just so amazing Ricki! I already have Sweet Freedom, so you can bet I will be getting this one :)

The kitchen gadget I wish I most had- a Vitamix. Hands down. Oh one day it will be mine…

Congrats again! So excited for you!

  21. Congrats!!! Amazing news. Your giveaway sounds lovely, too. One of my favorite foods is garden tomatoes.

  22. Terri Cole says:

I’m interested in one of those spiralizer gadgets!

  23. Hi! Very excited for your new cookbook and to try more of your recipes! To answer your questions: 1) I have so many fave foods! I love pizza, portabella mushrooms, roasted veggies, salads, maccaroni & “cheese”, chocolate cake, and chocolate chip cookies– all GF, lactose free, sugar free versions of course! 2) I wish I had a coffee grinder 3)I wish I had your Anti-Candida FEAST book! GOOD LUCK and thanks for your great recipes, stories, & cute pics of your doggies!

  24. …I just thought of the best “kitchen tool” in the world– a doggie!!! OK so a dog is not a tool, but s/he is certainly most USEFUL in the kitchen! The dog cleans up any mess on the floor, keeps us company, and supervises! :)

  25. I love all breakfast foods!

  26. So excited about your cookbook!!
My favorite food: watermelon! It is the best :-)
(If it had protein + healthy fats it would be the dream food of all times haha!)
    Ana

Ps: what a great giveaway, my fingers are crossed here for this one!

  27. Coconut would have to be my favorite food but it’s hard to decide! So many good things!

  28. hurray, hurray, hurray!!! So thrilled for you Ricki. I’m not entering the giveaway, just wanted to deliver some hearty congrats. Well deserved! :D

  29. My favorite food? Well that is kind of tough as it seems to be a moving target. I think I would have to go with Field Roast sausage at the moment.

  30. I want a vegetable spiralizer to make zucchini pasta.

  31. Rainn Kenyon says:

I love blackberries, and this time of year they are my favorite food. Last month, my favorite was peaches, and it was cherries before that.

  32. Congrats!!!!
    Favorite food: kale!!!

  33. Congratulations! I’ll be emailing you momentarily. :)

I love (and will sorely miss – I am not pleased about all this talk of fall) summer tomatoes and berries, but my perennial favorite food is chocolate!

  34. congrats ricki! I haven’t delved too deep into sweet freedom yet and yes i’d have to revamp stuff to GF, so glad you’ll be doing that for us! can’t wait to see your new book on the shelves.

favorite food recently is french fries. ;-)
would love to have dreena burton’s new book
i would like a WOK for the kitchen.

  35. Congrats!! Can’t wait to see the book. I’m not gluten free but do enjoy a great treat which your stuff always is! My favourite food is roasted cauliflower!

  36. Pesto is without a doubt my favorite food!!!

  37. Congrats!! that is very exciting :) my favorite food of the week has been peaches! or corn, haha. definitely peaches. We just worked our way through 80lbs of them, and i already miss them.

  38. I would love a blender, silly I know, maybe a blentec. Good blenders are hard to come by. I use my food processor but it isn’t the same.

    Congratulations!

  39. To all the questions: help – too many to mention! When I become rich (yeah, right) and get my own kitchen, a food processor will be at the top of my list. Until then, let’s say…a mandolin slicer. One that doesn’t chop of your fingers.

  40. So excited for you, Ricki! That is fantastic news!

My favorite food changes daily, but recently, I can’t get enough of fruit-packed acai bowls! I’ve been dreaming of getting an ice cream maker, but my food processor just pooped out on me so that just got bumped to the top of my list. And as for cookbooks, your new one sounds pretty great, and Chloe Coscarelli’s has been on my wishlist for awhile too. :-)

  41. Congratulations!! What marvelous news!! The two cookbooks on my radar that are currently out and getting rave reviews are the Artisan Cheese book and Chloe’s Kitchen. They’re definitely on my wish list! Oh, and when Terry Hope Romero’s new book comes out, I’ll be standing in line for sure!

  42. Congrats Ricki! I am sure the cookbook will be a big hit, and it will be a blessing to so many!

  43. Ricki, I am just absolutely THRILLED for you! This is such exciting news! And you totally deserve all of this wonderful success, my friend. I cannot wait to see it!

    Congratulations!

  44. this is wonderful news ricki! i’m so, so very happy for you!!

  45. First of all, CONGRATULATIONS! I am so happy for you :-)

Second of all, my all time favorite recipe from Sweet Freedom is your blondies. I don’t remember the exact name of them, but I fell in love with them during testing and quickly became obsessed–I made them so many times! If you could make that one gluten free, that would be amazing!

Third of all, my favorite food is a tie between watermelon and artichokes. Both are sooooooo good. I also really want a cherry pitter. I know it will only get use for a month or two each summer, but those two months would be so much easier with one, lol!

    Courtney

  46. I’d really love one of those high powered blenders!

  47. Joyce Powel says:

The cookbook sounds wonderful – much needed! My favorite food is fish; I would love to have an ice cream maker so I could make some dairy free just for me; I want a good basic cookbook that helps with gluten, dairy, soy and vegeterian diets. I don’t want a bunch of ingredients that I have to order and may not use again – just good eats!!

  48. My current favorite food is Colorado apples!

  49. My favorite food?! Just one?! This is so tough. I’ve been sitting here for 2 whole minutes debating on which delicious gluten free food I should name. I’m going to have to call it a tie. A three way tie. I’ve always loved sweet potatoes, but a few years ago I discovered the joys of almond butter and it began to compete with sweet potato’s “favorite food” status. Yet, just this summer, a third food vied for first place when I discovered fennel and began roasting it. Mmm!

  50. Congrats, Ricki! I can’t wait to see the new cookbook. Personally, I’d love to own an Excalibur Dehydrator or a VitaMix.

  51. Oooh, congratulations on this exciting news! Of course, I love the idea of no gluten. You don’t need to enter me, but PLEASE pass me a couple of those layered brownie squares. They look absolutely amazing. My favorite food? Hmmm? Right this minute, it’s green chile because I have some freshly roasted green chile sitting on my counter and the smell is divine. What kitchen tool I’ve been wishing for? That my old-school KitchenAid Mixer would come back to life. It sputtered and stopped last week. I’m hoping it can be fixed. Not exactly what you asked, but that’s what I want right now. I love that thing. =)

I’m very excited about your new endeavor and can’t wait for the cookbook. Hurry, hurry!

    Melissa

  52. Alison Whyte says:

My favourite food is almond butter!!!
I’ve been wishing for a yogurt maker or super powered blender.
I’ve been meaning to purchase the Spunky Coconut cookbooks for a while.
Can’t wait to see your book!

  53. Ricki!!
AWESOME!! I’m so excited for you! Congratulations! =)
    Hugs,
    Megan

  54. Carmela D says:

I love your blog! It is so hard to find anything by us with no sugar, and my husband’s system cannot tolerate it, so he has given up a lot of food. I am starting to make “healthy” versions of things, it is a learning experience. I am excited about your cookbook. Thank You.

  55. Can’t wait for your cookbook! I find it challenging to find gluten free recipes that are also dairy and egg free.

  56. Congrats on your newest accomplishment!
The tool of desire in this kitchen at the moment would be a spiralizer or some other “pasta” machine for raw food. Though an awesome juicer comes close.

  57. Jenny Tinjum says:

I have an obsession with food and nutrition and keeping my four kiddos eating well, but enjoying it instead of fighting over it!

  58. My favorite food would have to be peanut butter. I eat it every single day. My 6 year old daughter has Tuberous Sclerosis, seizures, developmental delays, and autism. We took her to a gluten free/casein free diet back in June, and have seen drastic improvement in her speech/language since then! But,…I have found that I need better kitchen equipment since I am doing even more cooking that I already did! (I happen to like to cook!) My DREAM appliance would have to be a Vitamix blender. So many uses! But I would also be thrilled to get a better food processor or a hand blender. And I would love to get a copy of your new cookbook as well. Sounds like it will be right up our alley!

  59. Angie Walker says:

My favorite food right now is a toss up between Dijon roasted vegetables and my favorite gluten free, vegan pancakes with peanut butter. I am a one year old with gluten, dairy, egg, and soy intolerance so I have learned a whole new way to cook and feel great being off everything also

  60. Congratulations! I can’t wait for your new book!

    I would love to have a dehydrator…

  61. Thanks for the giveaway! My favorite kitchen tool is my kitchen sheers- I use it often for cutting up raw meat, making things bite sized for my kids and for cutting up herbs. I am very interested in your new book!

  62. My favorite food is chocolate and nut butters if all kinds are a very close second. I would love a cookbook dedicated to whole grain, gluten free breads. Maybe one is out there, I just haven’t come across it yet.

  63. I think this is probably a very common wish but I lust after a vitamix! My 20+ year old Oster blender does the job and is still going strong so I can’t justify buying one, but if one landed in my kitchen, I would NOT kick it out!

  64. My favorite food would have to be BACON!!!

  65. Ricki, I’m so excited for you! Congratulations! You deserve it :) and I already know the book will be a huge success.

  66. I started following your blog when I was doing a yeast cleanse and found several things that got my family through! Thank you! Right now the only favorite food that comes to mind is, chocolate….though I don’t think that’s really food, so I guess I’d say burgers on the grill, with roasted potatoes. One kitchen tool that I am wanting is a Tortilla Press. Thanks for the opportunity to win and CONGRATULATIONS on your upcoming book.

  67. Fantastic news Ricki. Your blog and recipes and books are the best and now I have another one to look forward too. I love dark, organic, fair trade chocolate and I love cakes and brownies that contain it!!

  68. Congratulations!

My favorite food is Sweetbreads ahd I’m dying for a Kitchen Aid Mixer. You’re up coming book sounds terrific. I also want Spunky Coconuts books.

  72. I already like you on Facebook!

    Thanks for doing this giveaway!

  73. My favorite food is blueberries (followed closely by berries of all kinds). I prefer them plain. :)

  74. First off congratulations on your new cookbook! Very excited for you.
Favorite food – so hard to narrow down…pretty much anything Asian! There are so many kitchen tools that I have been wishing for, being a culinary student its become an obsession, but I think one that I would absolutely love is the meat grinder/sausage attachment for my kitchenaid so I can make them at home. As for the cookbook, I would have to say Revolutionary Chinese, its not gluten-free but I love the challenge of taking “regular” recipes and re creating them.

  75. My favorite thing to eat is chocolate (dark). Real food fav is Mediteerranean.
I would love love to have a VitaMix.
I would like a lot of different cookbooks so I will just say one that is gluten free, sugar free, and allergy free.

  76. I just tweeted about your give-a-way.
Thanks so much for doing this!

  77. I follow you on FB, Twitter, and now Pinterest.

  80. Kelly Schaefer says:

My favorite food is cheese. I wish I had one of those fancy tool that you put your zucchini on and it cuts it into long, thin noodles (ala pasta). Or a VitaMix. Yeah, a VitaMix. Its on my Amazon wish list, too! I must now eat gluten free so appreciate all that you do for us! Kelly

  81. Congratulations, Ricki! I am dreaming of YOUR cookbook! : )

  82. Kristie Rice says:

My favorite food is kale chips! Also raw cheesecakes, so yummy! A kitchen tool I’ve been dying for is a vegetable spiralizer or something similar that does the job. I like eating zucchini as noodles! So yummy!

  83. Congrats on the upcoming cookbook! This is soo exciting…will send you an email about testing :)

    (a) what a difficult question – right now peaches, tomatoes and sweet corn. sweet potatoes and winter squash win out for fall and winter!
    (b) I’m actually pretty happy with the tools I have! A juicer would be lovely, but not necessary.
    (c) Your new one! :)

  84. congratulations – how exciting to have a publishing deal – am so pleased for you – you really deserve it – can’t wait to see it – I would love to see so many recipes in your book (any savoury or are they all sweet?) Is it going to have a new name? More photos? As for what I would love to see – I have had a hankering to make your chocolate covered sweet potato balls so that sort of thing would be great

  85. My favorite food is fresh baby lettuce from my own garden. I wish I had a spiralizer, and a copy of the new Forks Over Knives cookbook.

My favorite food is chickpeas, either roasted (so addicting!) or in yummy burger form.
I would love a new toaster as mine died ages ago. (Does that count as a tool? I hope so!)
and I would so love the cookbook “Vegan Fusion World Cuisine” by Mark Reinfeld & Bo Rinaldi.
Many thanks and all the best to you and your lucky testers!

  89. (a) oooh tough one…I’d have to say…bread…:) (b) a dehydrator definitely. Either that or a blender (c) your cookbook! :)

  90. I am just getting into trying out gluten free recipes and eating healthier for my whole family. My oldest son is lactose intolerant and I am aiming at getting cows milk out of our diet and aiming to start excluding gluten now as well. I love reading blogs and trying out new recipes! I am really enjoying your blog and I am excited to try out some of your recipes.

  91. Kitchen tool I wish I had right now: spiralizer! I wanna make awesome zucchini noodles!! Thanks for doing this giveaway!

  92. I love breads! Gluten free is difficult for a bread lover. But I also cook gluten-free for my dogs so if they can’t eat it I can’t either and it so much fun to cook and share dinner with them. People cannot believe how much my dogs love spinach, kale, coconut and plantains.

  93. Melanie H. says:

Congratulations on everything you have posted! I am enjoying your blog. My sister is a vegan and I have slowly been introduced to the diet. It’s great so far! My favorite food I would have to say is all natural peanut butter! I would love to invest in a kitchenaid mixer because they just seem amazing! I would love to get the new food and wine cookbook. I would also enjoy being a taste tester!

  94. I have been eating gluten, dairy and egg free for a while and I am enjoying the benefits. I enjoy finding recipes that taste good that are in place of things I miss as treats. I am interested in gluten free cookbooks and recipes.

  95. My favorite food, which I would love to have a simple g-free recipe for: caramel pecan rolls.

  96. The kitchen tool I would like to have is a bread machine.

  97. I’d love to have a blendtec blender so I could make really good smoothies, better than my current blender.

  98. Oh Ricki, “congrats” doesn’t even begin to cover how proud and happy I am for you, but here’s wishing you one giant CONGRATS!! You so deserve this, and the other books put out by your new publisher are beautiful, so I can’t wait to see how yours turns out. I wish I could commit to recipe testing, but I can barely keep up with my own recipe development. Keep me on the list of potential reviewers when it’s all said and done though. ;)

Right now, although my bookshelves are groaning under the weight all of my cookbooks, I’m fiending after The Wild Vegan Cookbook after going on a foraging expedition with Steve Brill himself.

    • Thank you so much, Hannah! I think you know that yours was one of the very first vegan cookbooks I ever bought–still prominently on my shelf as inspiration even though I can’t eat most of those recipes any more! And wow re: that foraging expedition–what fun!! :D xo

  99. Ooh I am always on the lookout for gluten and refined sugar free starch free recipes!!! So excited for this new book! I would love a gluten free version of Asian steamed buns (bao, path bang, etc) or taiyaki… haha. A kitchen appliance? Kitchenware mixer and a good automatic ice cream maker are a couple obvious my extensive list! Hsga thanks for the giveaway!

  100. What great news! My food processor recently broke, so I’ll soon be in the market for a new one!

  101. Woohoo for you!!! Great news :)
    I’d love a high-speed blender like a Vita-mix. My fave food is chocolate :)
    Thx 4 the giveaway

Looking forward to your cookbook, would also love to test them for you.. I will email you.

    Heidie

  103. I would most like a pressure canner. I can barely function in the heat of summer. To have a water bath canner on the go to can all that I want to is a killer.
My favoutite foods are herbs/spices – onion, garlic, ginger, basil and hot peppers.

  104. I follow you on Pinterest –> MPaula

  121. Ricki, this is fantastic news! Holy smokes. Congratulations! Thank you for sharing this with us, and thank you in advance for all the hard work you’ll do in getting this beautiful book completed. I wish that I could be a recipe tester but, alas, many of the ingredients that I can easily come by in Canada are extremely hard to find or simply too expensive here in Italy.

Nevertheless, I would love to partake in this contest. So, here are my answers:

    1) Dates. All the time, in any recipe possible, especially when they are paired with bananas and maple syrup.

    2) A mandolin or a crêpe pan are items that are on my “to purchase” list when I move into my own place in Toronto in January.

    3) I would looove, first and foremost, your new cookbook, but I understand that I’ll have to wait for that. Next on my list, however, would be Chloe’s Kitchen by Chloe Coscarelli.

    Thank you, Ricki!

  122. Christine B says:

My favorite food is probably bread – ironic for someone with Celiac. But I’ve enjoyed figuring out a new world of baking my own bread and enjoying the less complicated fruit and veggie breads like banana bread, zucchini bread, pumpkin bread, etc.

  124. My favorite food is definitely chocolate, and I prefer it sugar free! I love eating baker’s unsweetened squares. But your recipe for buckwheat single serve pancakes are a close second! I love them topped with almond butter :).

Love your blog, recipes, and creativity, Ricki!

  126. Mango or avocado are tied for favorite foods! I could eat them and only them forever.

  127. My favourite food is all kinds of exotic fruits, such as mango and papaya. I’d love to have a food processor or Vitamix, for making bigger batches of recipes… and the cookbook I’ve been dreaming of is a Finnish vegan cookbook called Viiden tähden vegaani.

    huge hugs!

  135. My favorite food is so hard to choose in this summer season, I could eat summer fruit all day and night. A just ripe peach, grilled, mmmmmmmmm.

I’ve been dreaming of getting a silicone baking mat, but it’s one of those little luxuries that I’ve been waiting on getting.

  136. Hi Ricki,

I could use a great vegetable peeler, silicone spatula, or a good can opener.
I forgot to tell you yesterday that I am open to testing out any of your recipes.
    Hugs!

  137. My favorite foods are bread and cookies.
A really good knife for slicing and chopping vegetables is something I need badly and a spiralizer would be handy because I see all those zucchini pasta recipes on many blogs.
I would like to have ‘Let them Eat Vegan’ by Dreena Burton and ‘Grilling Vegan Style’ by John Schlimm.

  138. Congratulations on your book! I love your recipes, and appreciate all of the work that goes into them. My very favorite things to eat are arugula, beets, and avocados. Love all three, together or separate. Oh – and apples. Lots and lots of apples. I’m currently salivating over Kelly Brozyna’s Dairy Free Ice Cream book. I’d also love to have an oven-safe griddle for making large pancakes, etc.

  139. My favorite food is pizza. Unfortunately, I have not found a crust that is grain, or gluten freen, that I like. I would love a food dehydrator.

  141. Veggie Sara says:

Congrats Ricki! Must be great news to get :)
I don’t own Sweet Freedom, but it was on my whishlist. Now I can replace it with a new one.

  142. I wish I could have your new cook book of course :) I already love my Vitamix (and it is way over the $75…..luckily I got one for Mother’s day). I am always wanting any new knives. My favorite foods are anything green and raw…but also my new raw chocolate with nuts and coconut…can never get enough.

  143. Congrats on the book! That is so exciting!

    Favorite food? Definitely watermelon!
Kitchen utensil? Would have to be a food processor. Mine broke before I moved, and I can’t justify the space for a new one. Thank goodness I at least have a vitamix!

  144. I would love to own a Vitamix. I know they are expensive, and I’m sure I can do all sorts of similar things with my food processor, but a Vitamix would be RAD!

  145. I’m new to your site but congrats on your cookbook! Lately, my favorite food is quinoa. I can’t seem to get enough of it.

  146. My favorite food is broccoli… I know, it must be a genetic defect! I’m supposed to like pizza or ice cream or something, right? :)

My fav food has to be coconut ( or at least one of my favorites) and I’d love to have one of those spirit things for making noodles out of veggies.

  150. Way to go, Ricki! While I have a spiralizer, I’d love a julienne peeler for some finicky veggies. And my favourite food? I can’t really decide… raspberries? They are a definite treat. :)

    Digicats {at} Sbcglobal {dot} Net

  156. Fav food? Almost like asking what’s my favourite child/dog/pair of shoes :-) Love most food but especially homemade bread … the kneading, the smell while baking, eating – yum. I have coveted a Danish Dough Whisk for this very reason, oh, and a Spurtle for stirring steel cut oats and other thicker dishes.
As I a new to the Vegan way, and I have been following you on Pinterest, I would love anyone of your books, Ricki!
    Continued success!

  158. My favorite food is probably chocolate, but sadly I’m allergic so I have recently been playing around with carob and I really like it! It is much sweeter than chocolate and tastes great with stevia.

Of course a kitchen tool I’d love to have would be a vitmix or dehydrator! But something small I need is a cooling rack or a mini muffin tin with silicone liners or a silicone mini muffin tin.

I would love to find a great paleo cook book.

  159. I would absolutely love a spiralizer!

  160. Congrats on the new book! I would love to own a spiralizer!

Kitchenaid has a great one.. its on my Christmas list! ;)

  163. Keya Millionie says:

My favorite food is anything pumpkin spice and things I can make in the Fall. I’d love to own a dehydrator but I don’t see that happening for quite a long time. As for cookbooks, that’s a really long list. I hear Bake and Destroy is coming out with them but there are some great Fall and Halloween ones I’d like too.

  164. My favorite foods are peanut butter/chocolate desserts, or bread, or bean/pasta/potato dishes with a yummy sauce! :) I would loooove a spiralizer :) ANY cookbook would be great, especially one with simple, quick recipes :)

  165. Elise preite says:

My favorite food vegan lasagna!! The thing I’d love most in my kitchen would be a spiralizer for some eggplant pasta!! Uh oh I see a pattern I’m a pasta junkie of sorts lol

  174. What a fun contest. Thanks. My FAV food – chickpeas!! In any shape or form – on a salad, as hummus, spicy baked… YUM. 181. Amazing, congratulations, I look forward to your book!!! My favorite food is anything that tastes like vanilla or white chocolate. The object of desire and mistery is a dehydrator. And the books I am quite curious about right now are the ones by Kelly Brozna!

  190. congratulations on the cookbook!

  192. Ellen Levickis says:

my favorite food is blackened salmon etouffe

  193. Congrats on your cookbook! How exciting for you!

Now how am I supposed to pick a favorite food!? Today, it is apple strudel (and the fact that I baked one fresh this afternoon may be an influencing factor in this choice – lol) and a kitchen implement …a microplane grater, or a set of silicone spatulas! Thank you!!

  194. I really want a kitchenaid stand mixer!

  195. My absolute favorite food is avocado–I eat at least one avocado every day!! I’m DYING for a spiralizer!! I make raw pasta with zucchini all the time and didn’t know they made handheld spiralizers until recently :)

  196. Looking forward to the new cookbook! I love avocados in any form and gluten-free pizza with goat cheese always make me happy!

  197. Wow!! Christy Morgan shared this on FB and I had to check it out. My favorite food is dessert…and looks like this cookbook is the perfect storm! Being vegan with a sweet tooth it’s hard staying away from treats. Baking at home is a great way to monitor ingredients. Can’t wait for the publication! as for my favorite cook book? Ahh I love a few very much…Veganomicon, Blissful Bites (Zucchini Bread!!) & Idiot’s Guide to Vegan Cooking (it was a silly gift but I use it often for a lot of everyday cooking) are my favorites.
My kitchen is pretty set but a Spiralizer would be a nice addition. Makes me smile since I work at Spiral Diner <3 I'm so excited for you!! Congratulations…and I'll be following you via all social media avenues!

  198. Billie Jean says:

I have sooosososo many favorite foods, the list would never stop! I would love to own a spiralizer! It seems like a great tool for making raw meals!

  199. You are so sweet!

  200. Sue McKenzie says:

I love chocolate anything. But soft, moist brownies or cookies with homemade ice cream, always wins with me.
I look forward to your cookbook.

  201. Congratulations! I can’t wait to see the book out and in the stores. It’s sure to be a hit!

And I can’t help but enter this giveaway…

    1. Anything with sweet potatoes

    2. A really big cutting board!

    3. Umm…your new cookbook? :)

  202. I’m a bit late – but congratulations! That is great news :)

  203. I want a vitamix. Is that too much to ask? :)

  204. I love chocolate. I would love a little gizmo I saw a friend use…she put cloves of peeled garlic in it and then rolled it like a car and it chopped it up. Or a mandolin slicer. I have been dreaming of the Spunky Coconuts new ice cream cookbook! :)

  205. There is always a kitchen tool on my wish list! I have been eyeing the spiralizer or there was a $50 mandolin at Williams & Sonoma that looked interesting. However, another good chef’s knife is probably highest on the list. It seems like I am forever chopping veggies these days! I have also been dreaming of a portable food cookbook. I may cook breakfast at home, but eat it in the car. Lunches and snacks are at the office/school or on the go. It seems like most of our meals are not at home!

  206. Contrats on your new project!! Super excited for you.
My love strawberries a lot! Kitchen gadget include excellent spatula or great mixing bowl. The Mediterranean Vegan Kitchen is a cookbook I have wanted for a long while.

  207. Kristen N. says:

My favorite food is peanut butter!

  208. Congrats!
    1. Fav food: I have a soft spot for any baked goods (GF and vegan, of course!)
    2. A spiralizer – I really want to eat more zucchini noodles!
    3. Been interested in the Gluten Free and Vegan Holidays and vegan slow cooking (would love to use the slow cooker more!) – just haven’t gone out and bought them yet!

  209. My favorite food these days is roasted cauliflower (grated and used as a rice substitute is the BEST!) and the kitchen tool I’ve been wishing for (for a reallllly long time) is a salad spinner! I hate washing and trying to dry my greens in my colander! I would LOVE a copy of the Anti-Candida Feast cookbook. I follow you on Facebook and Pinterest and signed up for the emails from DDD too! Although I can’t be “diagnosed” by my doctor, all signs and symptoms point to me needing to change my diet and begin eating ACD. It’s overwhelming, to say the least, but I can’t wait to start cooking your recipes and curing myself!

  210. 1. My fave food is Pancaes and Waffles. ♥ 2. Fave kitchen item. I already own a vitamix ;) so I would love an egg mixer/beater like my grandma used to use. 3. Spunky coconut new ice cream book.

  211. It’s tough to figure what my favorite food is because I like so much variety! Since it’s summer, my current favorite is Ratatouille with brown rice. I’ve been seeing more recipes that use a spiralizer or even a julien-ing peeler for soome of the vegetable pasta noodles and salads, and I also would like to get a yogurt make so I can make my own soy yogurt. My new dream machine? An Excalibur dehydrator! I would like YOUR cookbook, but I would also like to try Vegan Cooking for Carnivores to see if it has recipes that could help convince my friends to eat a plant based diet. I want to help others, not just myself! Thanks for doing something so fun!

  212. My favorite foods are nut/seed butters – pretty much love them all!

  213. My fav thing right now is cauliflower “rice.” I would love a lemon zester and any candida cookbook. I have done 8 weeks of no sugar, dairy, corn, soy, gluten, alcohol and need some inspiration!

  214. My favorite foods are dark chocolate and apples. I would love to have more gluten free cookbooks, especially ones that are refined sugar free, vegetarian or vegan. Another item I would be a food processor.

  215. This is amazing…. awesome news! CONGRATS! My favourite food would be COCONUT…. in all its glorious forms. I would love a spiraliser or a candida cookbook :) You’re a star!

  216. Weisserose says:

    Can I say WOW? :-)
Big big congratulations! Can we pre-order already? ;-)

    1. Favourite food: savoury breakfasts.
    2. Kitchen stuff: one of these lovelies to make zucchini noodles – or a mandoline – or a very very good knife!
    3. Cooking book: one of your own, of course.

I would love to test your food – unfortunately I don´t think you could ship it to Germany, right? ;-)
Seriously, I would love to test the recipes for your book but I am afraid it might be difficult to find this or that particular ingredient around here, thus not enabling me to test accurately.

Are the Girls going to be on the book? Please, they are indispensable! :-)
You have a nice day, Ricki!

    • Thanks so much! I’m looking for testers worldwide, so if you can find the ingredients, Germany is great. And I’m not sure The Girls will make an appearance–it’s up to the publisher. :) I will certainly mention them in the acknowledgements, though! :D

  217. Yay! So exciting!!!!

    1) my favorite food is pretty much anything sweet, but I LOVE chocolate!
    2) the kitchen tool I’ve been dreaming of lately is an automatic ice cream maker (the kind that doesn’t need the sale). I’m also dreaming of a non-stick doughnut pan and a spiralizer! I’ve always got some new gadget on my mind! ;)
    3) the cookbook that I want right now is The Art of Eating Healthy – Kids: grain free low carb reinvented by Maria Emmerich

  218. Ann Bimberg says:

I would love to have one of those doughnut baking pans. (because I hate frying)

  219. Congrats on the new book! This giveaway is so kind of you to do, Ricki! My favorite food changes all the time, but at the moment I would have to say it’s a tie between pineapple and cherries. A salad spinner would make my life a lot easier. I don’t know why I haven’t gotten one yet given the ungodly amount of greens I consume in a week ;) The cookbook I most want right now would be Doug McNish’s Eat Raw, Eat Well.

  220. Congrats!!! So happy for your new book! I’ll have to make sure I’m able to get a copy of this one!

Let’s see.. I have a lot of favorite foods, but a top one is avocado. And apples.. yeah I can’t stop at just one. A kitchen utensil I’ve been wishing for is a tofu press but what I really need is one really great knife. A cookbook I wish I could have? Viva Vegan by Terry Hope Romero!

  221. 1) i’m getting new favorites as my diet changes – lately it is variations of paleo pancakes and “brownies”
    2) a good espresso machine!
    3) a sugar-free, gluten-free, allergen-free cookbook…. OH! this just might become a reality in my kitchen soon!

  222. My favorite food is chinese food. A kitchen tool that I would love to own is the Scoops of Flower Measuring Spoons from Modcloth.com or Peas Pass the Salt and Pepper Shaker Set from Modcloth as well. And the cookbook I’ve been dreaming of is “Eat, Shrink and Be Merry” :)

  223. A) My favorite food is…this is so hard…anything with chocolate and peanut butter. Or anything with pumpkin. B) The kitchen appliances I most want right now are a spiralizer and a pasta machine. C) I want to own the Candle 79 Cookbook and Nobu’s Vegetarian Cookbook.

  224. My favorite food is pizza! (Healthy pizza, heheheh)
I’d love to own a hand held immersion blender or veggie spiralizer. I’d love an Indian (North or South) cookbook (to help me expand my cooking skills). I am recently vegan (3 months!) and so excited about all these resources available online (like your website!)
    Ciao, Tamara

  225. Love dark chocolate! And recently in need of a good knife (my ceramic one just broke while slicing a nectarine!). Look forward to the book!

  226. I’m a little late to the party, I guess.

Hum…I’d love a nice, ceramic knife. I don’t have one of those yet. Or a giant, wood cutting board. We always use plastic and have to replace them all the time. A nice array of salts would be good, too. That’s something I’ve been meaning to get around to for a while. (Ok, salt really isn’t a kitchen tool, but it is a necessity in my house!)

Can’t wait for your new book!

  227. I try to eat seasonally as much as I can, so it’s impossible to choose one favourite food – at the moment it’s peaches and I am eating so many of them! I love chocolate year round, though. The kitchen tool I’ve been wishing for is a decent smaller chef’s knife (my roommate has a nice one, but it’s got a ten or eleven inch blade and sometimes a 6-8 inch would be more useful). Since your new cookbook isn’t ready yet, the cookbook I’ve been wishing for is Super Natural Every Day by Heidi Swanson.

  228. My favorite food is mango — I always have a bag of diced mango in the freezer or some fresh ones ripening on my counter. The kitchen tool I’d like is either a julienne peeler, which would be so much easier than hauling out my mandoline, or silicone bakeware, like a Silpat or an 8″ square pan, for more oil-free and/or low-fat baking.

  229. Totally forgot to mention the cookbook I’d most like to have — “Let Them Eat Vegan,” so I can make whole food recipes for the whole family. :)

  230. Hi Ricki!
Congrats on your book! I’m very excited to see the new recipes and hope to help out by being a tester ;)Here are the answers to your questions for the giveaway:

    a) Coconut
    b) Spiralizer – something that I have wanted for so long!
    c) The Spunky Coconut Dairy Free Ice Cream book :-)

    • Thanks so much, Jess! Re: tester, did you send me an email? I’m collecting email addresses so I can have all the tester info in one place. . . if you haven’t sent one yet, would you mind doing so? Thanks so much! :)

  231. Congrats on your new book!

I’d love to own a kitchaid mixer

  232. Congrats, Ricki! This is awesome news!

I love pizza and I’d love to have a pizza peel (very large spatula).

  233. OHHH MMYY!! How exciting for you!! We have been a mostly gluten free, frugal household for many years. Recently I have been trying so hard to start the AntiCandida diet, but my cravings and temptations are so strong, and the four kids just well… after a few days I’m always eating something I shouldn’t.

I would sooo love to receive your give away. With any of the things you could imagine to put in it. Also, I have been looking for a fine mesh, metal strainer that is used for making home-made milks. I have read on-line that many people find them useful, I just can’t find one that would work and not be so expensive.

Anyway, congrats on your next book. I can’t wait to see it completed and use the recipes!!

  234. Gosh – I guess I was so excited I forgot to answer all the questions (Can you tell those nasty yeast-ies tend to take over) – Sorry :)
    a) favorite food – ice cream, and coconut, and ice cream!!
    b) The fine metal mesh strainer for making homemade milks. like almond, rice, or coconut milk.
    c) Favorite cookbook — wow, that’s a hard one. I would at first say your ice cream book, but really it should be anything that would have the most sugar free recipes.

I’m already subscribed to your emails. I am definitely sharing on-line! And headed to Pin this post right now!!!
You are such a sweet person! Thank you!!

  235. Carlie Cahill says:

My favorite food is probably PEANUT BUTTER! :) I would love to have mini mufifn tins or an ice cream maker (I don’t know if that’s too expensive) The cookbook I would most want is either dessert without compromise or good morning. i can’t choose between, either one! :P

  236. Just getting started on the anti-candida diet so this would be awesome! and I’d love to have a vitamix or a KitchenAid mixer. Initially I posted this on the wrong article sorry. :)

  237. Sooo many favorite foods! I especially love anything with a lot of flavor – I can’t think of anything tastier than a good curry. For cookbooks, I love savory so the ‘Feast’ book looks wonderful, and I love your idea for a spiralizer – I definitely don’t have one of those.

  238. My favorite food is milk chocolate (and I miss it terribly) and the small kitchen gadget I wish I had is a citrus juicer…or maybe a citrus zester. :-)

  239. I would love a spiralizer or julienne peeler to make some zucchini noodles!

  240. Exciting news!
My favorite food right now is coconut. In all forms!
I would love a santoku knife.
I would love to have your Sweet Freedom cookbook.

  241. Stacey LoSacco says:

I would love an ice cream maker. I love ice cream but my body doesn’t like dairy so I would like to learn some alternative ice creams:)

  242. My favorite food is trail mix. I’d most like to have a Vitamix (out of the prize price range, I know), but I’d also like a spiral slicer to make my own zucchini noodles. I’m not sure which cookbook I’d like most. Perhaps Spunky Coconuts dairy-free ice cream cookbook. I love cookbooks!

  243. Jessica Turner says:

    1) My favorite food changes, but right now is garbanzo beans. I have a severe tree nut allergy and love finding new ways to use garbanzo beans in place of nuts in recipes! 2) I would love to have a pizza cutter. I’ve been making all kinds of crackers lately and it’s getting old cutting the dough with a knife! 3) I would love a cookbook that is gluten free, refined sugar free, nut free, and vegan… does that exist?

  244. I would really like an immersion blender.. On my wish list for Christmas!

  245. Jennifer C says:

My fav food is chocolate! any kind. I’d most like to have a brita water filter pitcher. I’d like to win any of the cookbooks plz!

  246. How very exciting!

  247. Oops, I don’t follow directions very well…. My favorite food is sushi, I would love to own a bigger food processor, and I would love to own any cookbook from Diet, Desert and Dogs!

  248. Yay new cookbook! Love your blog and the recipes!

My favourite food is a good dark chocolate with chili peppers!

I’d love to try a sprializer!
I saw a cookbook called Vegan recpies for carnivores that I thought looked really interesting. My HH is a meat eater though he is very open minded and actually loves raw vegan food. anyway, always keen for recipes that we’ll both enjoy!

  249. Ahh…my favorite food? Chocolate. And avocados. Haha. And kitchen tool? I’ve always wanted a good ice cream maker (kind of expensive though), and as for a smaller kitchen tool, I’d say a milk foamer, or like one of the commenters above said, a nice array of salts would be fun too (thought that’s not a tool!). I would love any of your cookbooks! (one that has less recipes that include coconut- I’m intolerant to it). This is an awesome giveaway, and so sweet of you! Congrats on your new book. That’s so exciting.

  250. Coconut in all forms – flesh, oil, flour, milk – is my favorite food.

Mangoes are in a tie with them :)

  251. Oops, I obviously don’t know how to use the new comment app – I think I sent it through without saying anything!! So here are my answers:
    1. raspberries
    2. hmm, I think I own every kitchen gadget known to man, but a nice cutting board always comes in handy – I go through a lot of those!
    3. oh, that is hard…since your new book is not yet available, I might choose Doug McNish’s new raw recipe book, Eat Raw, Eat Well.

  252. Awesome, just found this site on my search for candida diet friendly recipes! I love coconut, crepes and pasta… latter two are very missed right now.

    I would love a spiralizer!

  253. How I Love Pizza and zucchini. And how I would love a Potato Ricer, plastic whisk, and a spiralizer. I would love to have any cookbook you like. I am in love with vegan cookbooks. :o)

  254. Congratulations! I love baked goods, as long as they are gluten free. Of course, I would love your new cookbook!

  255. Well, actually, I can’t WAIT to get the new cookbook you’re making up! I have to wait a whole year! I also saw a cookbook for like 150 gluten free vegan cookie recipes, I’d like that also. And, since you mentioned it, I’d love a spiralizer. What fun! Thank you!

  256. I’m so excited for your book to come out! It’s been ages since I’ve bought a cookbook, since I’ve been busily making everything from scratch/from things I find off blogs…but I will most definitely be buying your book!

    1) My favourite foods are basically fresh vegetables (KABOCHA SQUASH)…but besides that, I’ve been obsessed with any sort of nut butter lately. It doesn’t matter which type, they’re all good!
    2) A kitchen tool that I’m wanting right now is actually a spiralizer. Even though a VitaMix would be awesome ;) that would be totally unrealistic to ask for!
    3) And besides your cookbook, I’d also like to get my hands on Brendan Braizer’s Thrive Diet Cookbook.

  257. Congrats on the cookbook! That is an amazing feat!! My favorite food is always pancakes! My kitchen tool coveting recently has been a new paring knife. It is pretty much my everything knife. I just feel like it is the perfect size for most quick jobs.

  258. Kabocha squash is my favorite food!!!!!

  259. Fave cookbook is happy herbivore!

  260. Fave kitchen gadget are my measuring cups!

  261. Favorite food:Mexican, one tool: a great sharp knife and the cookbook: Sweet Freedom. Thanks for a great giveaway!

  262. Just found you through twitter! Great site and great photos!!! I have been wanting an apple corer. Sounds ridiculously simple, I know. I just never put it in my cart when shopping….and then I wish I had. haha!

    Glad I found your site.

  263. Hello Ricki! I am thrilled to hear about your cookbook! I have one good vegan/gf cokbook and I need another as that is how my household is eating.

For the giveaway, it’s so hard to pick one favorite food, but I just love almonds and anything made with them, and for my kitchen, I have been looking for a wonderful simple mandoline for veggies. As for the cookbook, I am not kidding about your new one! but another I have been interested in is finding a really great Korean or general asian cookbook so I can learn some recipes that are naturally and deliciously gf. Thank you!

  264. Congrats on your new cookbook, Ricki. Lookin’ forward to it!!

My favorite food?—hmmmm, it’s a tie between homemade raw goat kefir and dark, dark, premium chocolate (be still my heart!); 2) I would LOVE an immersion blender (for all those delicious soups I’ll be lovingly crafting this autumn); and 3) the cookbook choice would have to be ‘Sweet Freedom’ or ‘Nourishing Meals’ by Alissa Segersten and Tom Malterre.

Thanks for so generously offering this give-away and again congrats on your upcoming book. You rock!

  265. My favourite food is a tough choice. I think it’s curry. Any type of curry at all !! Or squash soup.. I could eat an entire pot in 2-3 days. Good thing it’s healthy!

  266. Hi :) this sounds like a really great idea for a giveaway!!
My favourite food is probably pineapple..
I soooo wish that I could get a spiralizer. I’ve seen the Spirali and it looks amazing!!
Hmmm, the cookbook that I have had my eye on most recently, has to be Kate Wood’s “Eat Smart Eat Raw”.

I have Liked you on Facebook and also follow you on Pinterest :). I love your blog and your inventive recipes, the way you write and uplifting mood that simply reading your blog, brings. Congratulations on the new cookbook and good luck!!

    Jade C.

  267. I’m a sucker for anything with pumpkin, winter squash or sweet potatoes in the title. I would love to add a magic bullet, a spiralizer or a nice new knife to my kitchen tools. And, I would love to have the new frozen treats cookbook by Spunky Coconut or Wholelife Nutrition’s new cookbook. Congrats on your news!

  268. I love artichokes!

  269. Fawn MacMichael says:

    a. My favorite food..hmmm that is hard to say just 1 thing…but avocados, hummus, sweet potatoes, apples, chocolate, oh gosh, food is one of my passions, love it :)
    b. I could really use a mandolin slicer or large wooden cutting board
    c. Cookbook at the top of my list right now, is a good raw dessert cookbook :)
I follow you on facebook, and shared your link. I just LOVE your website!!! So many amazing recipes!!!

  270. 1) tie between dark chocolate and strawberries
    2) i am in desperate need of: a new ricer and a new microplane zester
    3) The Advanced Professional Pastry Chef

  271. wanted to continue my comment… love anything with my CSA veggies or desserts with almond nut butter and coconut! definitely would like a vita mixer, BUT a great knife, slicer or new spatulas! your cookbook would be fabulous!
    thanks for all you do!

  272. Yay! Favorite food is difficult, though chocolate is always good. One of the smaller items I would like would be a spiralizer so I can make healthier noodles, it’s been on my wish list for awhile. The cookbook would be any that would help with substitutions, ie for nut flour, etc., since we have a nut allergy in the house; i understand things wouldn’t necessarily taste exactly the same, but some recipes look really delicious yet have to be passed up due to the flour.

  273. Fav foods: chocolate (the darker the better!), sweet potatoes, apples, and kale.

What I want to own: a spiriziler, a vegetable peeler (never owned one), or a new whisk (mine is dead).

A hearty congrats, by the way!

  274. a) Fresh Mango! So delicious!
    b) A pretty serving plate :D
    c) One of those 4 ingredient cookbooks. So handy!

Love this blog, and I think it’s fantastic you’re creating a cookbook of your own! :)

  275. Congrats!!

A few of my favs are Zucchini, carrots, potatoes, Beets, avocados, apples, watermelon, peaches…well really any fruit/veg YUM OoOo Fresh Basil <3

I would love a spirooli or mandolin I am currently experimenting with raw food and my liitle kitchen tool is nice my for my thumbs sake I am hoping for the bigger virsion (maybe Santa will bring one if I do not win it :))

  276. Jennifer Winfield says:

I’m newly vegan so I definitely need more cookbooks! Having a better blender would be nice too :D

  277. Jennifer Winfield says:

I looove chocolate and I need a better blender :P. I am newly vegan and I am so excited about cooking again! I always hated dairy products and cooking with meat is just gross.

  278. Love anything chocolate! Would love a biscuit cutter or kitchen scale and I would love the spunky coconut’s ice cream cookbook.

  279. Also retweeted and followed on pinterest!

  280. My favorite food right is tempeh. I am loving it on pizza.

  281. Candy Steele says:

I’d love a tofu press! Congrats on the cookbook!

  282. I adore artichokes. I make my dressings and marinades from scratch and I would be thrilled to add a microplane grater/zester to my kitchen tools. Thank you!

  283. Wow, I’ve been so loving your blog – thrilled to hear you’ll have a new cookbook out! I really (really, really) appreciate the sugar-free/low glycemic emphasis. Favorite food? Currently, I’m really into a lovely West African sweet potato/spicy peanut soup. Can’t think of a kitchen tool I really need right now…is that possible?!

  284. I love anything made with a sweet potato!
    I would love a spiralizer!
Besides your Sweet Freedom cookbook, I have had my eye on Chloe Coscarelli’s *Chloe’s Kitchen*

  285. I am new to this type of cooking. I have a 3 yr. old son who is receiving special services through our school system. He is currently vegetarian and shifting to vegan. I have been considering trying a gluten free diet to see if it helps him. It was overwhelming until I found a few recipes by Ricki. I was really only looking for vegan and to my surprise, they turned out to be gluten free and not crazy complicated! I am very thankful for your recipes. While I haven’t tried any yet (just found you tonight!), I feel hopeful for delicious and healthy meals that my whole family will enjoy in my near future.

While cheese is my favorite food, I will say mushrooms are my favorite since I would rather not be eating cheese at all.

I am putting a food processor on my Christmas list this year. (I don’t expect to get one if I win this giveaway.)

Again, even if there weren’t a giveaway, I want to share my appreciation for these recipes and tips Ricky. Thank you!

  286. I love sweetbreads, they are my favorite food! I’ve been developing some gluten/grain-free recipes on my blog for sweetbreads. I think I’d love to have a Kitchen Aid Mixer, since I have so many awesome tools already. And finally, I really want Nourishingmeals.com new book. It looks great. Here’s a link to my last sweetbreads recipe. http://acraftygourmet.blogspot.com/2012/09/saturday-night-crafty-gourmet-dinner-in.html

  287. Yay that this giveaway is open to anyone anywhere – THANKYOU!
Good questions… My favourite food would be any raw vegan deliciousness really but I do love raw cacao, kale chips, coconut, nut butters, mmm…

And for the cookbook a copy of Amber Shea’s Practically Raw would be wonderful!
    Thanks =)

  288. Yeah! New Cookbook. Hope this one will have some Gluten, Dairy and Nut free recipes. You are wonderful to continue creating new and delicious eats for all of us who have been struggling for years trying to cook & bake Gluten & Dairy free as well as Vegan.
Would enjoy using a spiralizer, but a good knife or color coded chopping boards for fruit, onion, garlic, veggies would be great, too. A treat to receive any of your books, but Good Morning Brakfast is one I have been wanting. So glad you are also addressing th sugar issue in your recipes. P.S. Our “Auggie Doggie” would like a recipe gluten free dog treats

  289. My favorite food is dark chocolate :) I’ve just been looking for a spiralizer to make “noodles”. I would like your new cookbook.

  290. my favorite foods are apples, massaged kale salads with avocado, walnuts, nut butters, and other raw foods.

    i’ve been wanting a spiralizer for over a year now..i can’t believe i haven’t gotten one!

  291. Congrats on your new book! Lots of work goes into that kind of endeavor!
FAV FOOD: cheese….but I think you are doing dairy free? So, next on my list would be chocolate!
KIT TOOL WISH: one of those spiralizer tools because I so miss pasta, SO much, and need to learn how to make and like the zucchini substitute.
    COOKBOOK WISH: yours!!

  292. Christina Marnik says:

What a wonderful giveaway! Thank you for doing this!

    (a) avocados and chocolate
    (b) a lemon zester or bamboo cutting boards
    (c) Let Them Eat Vegan

  293. Sarah-Helena says:

Congrats on the new cookbook! I’ve been following your site for such a long time and it’s really helped me transition into healthy eating, which in turn helped me on the road to recovery from 2 years of autoimmune disease (I’ve only just turned 20).
My favourite food are blueberries and coconut oil. I use coconut oil for/on everything!
I’ve been longing for a cuisinart food-processor forever, but I can’t afford it… So there are a lot of raw recipes I’ve been struggling with, there’s no way you can get mashed dates and walnuts to stick together without a food processor!
My favourite cookbook is an old cookbook i got from my grandmother on traditional portugese cooking. most beautiful pictures ever, and it also symbolizes the special relationship i have with my grandmother in sharing recipes and cooking together :)

  294. My favorite food is the Chesapeake Bay Blue Crab…
I’d REALY love a small food processor!

  297. Oh, oh, oh!!! I am so happy for you, and I would love to test. :)

  298. Erin wagner says:

I love anything with chocolate, I would love a rice cooker or vitamix, and a dream cook book would be an allergian free kid friendly cookbook!

  299. I love Irish Soda Bread. I wish I had a blender. I would like the Cooking for Isaiah cookbook

  300. My favourite food is probably good dark chocolate or boston cream pie. Or something else sweet, it all just depends on my mood.

  301. 1. Chicken Pot Pie!
    2. I would really love one of those hanging baskets for fruit and veggies, or if that doesn’t really count as an appliance, I’d love one of those small blender/mixers that blends it right into the cup for smoothies.
    3. YOURS!

  302. Hi Ricki…congrats on the book! How exciting!
Fave food: Cheese, but I’m L/F so…organic chocolate
Gadget: I would so love a spiralizer, because an ice cream maker is too expensive
Cookbook: Well, it’s a cookbook too, but I would love to read Elaine Gottschall’s “Breaking the Vicious Cycle; Intestinal Health through Diet”. Or your book!!!

I don’t think I’m doing the Rafflecopter thing properly. I may end up having this posted again. Thanks for the fun giveaway!

  303. Maria McNerney says:

    (1) My favorite food is hummus!
    (2) A good knife would be wonderful as all of mine came from hand me downs or my wedding 7 years ago. Or, just a simple wire mesh strainer to catch the seeds while squeezing fresh lemons into my dishes.
    (3) We have such an extensive list of allergies, it’s really difficult to find a cookbook to incorporate all of our needs. I can usually only use 5-10 recipes or so (usually modified) from any cookbook I have purchased. I would need one free of wheat/gluten, dairy, egg, nuts, peanuts, coconut, seeds, avocado, banana, oats, white rice (easily substituted with brown usually), corn, and even strawberries. Due to the corn allergy, no xantham gum and I cannot find guar gum that isn’t cross-contaminated with something we cannot have.

Thanks for all that you do and for the opportunity to enter!

  304. (1) My fave food was Italian bread. Now that I’m GF, I’m looking for a new one.
    (2) I’m still rebuilding my cooking supplies so I’m after a microwavable mixing bowl, ramikans, and measuring spoons and cups that have more than 4 measurements.

Thanks! I’ll be looking for your cookbook!

  305. Collette Marie says:

I love deep dark chocolate so rich you can only take one bite.(or two!)

I would like a flour sifter(to mix and prepare my gluten-free flours)

    Your new cookbook sounds Awesome!

  306. I would love “eat like a dinosaur’ and ‘sweet freedom’ books!! For my kitchen I would love a spiralizer-thingy to make zucchini noodles! My favorite food is PIZZA, which is hard to come by with no dairy, but we are working on it. Love your blog, and keep up all the delish recipes!!!

  307. Spiralizer! I’m so excited you have a new cookbook coming out, SweetFreedom is not one I have.

  308. Oh, I subscribe on Facebook, don’t tweet or Pinterest or Tweet.

  309. And of course follow DDD, my fav GFV blogger of course!

  310. I love anything with beans in it – Mexican inspired food is my favourite. I would love to have a spiralizer. I’ve been wanting to make some zucchini “pasta”.

  311. My favorite food is bread, however, now I’m GF and looking to find a recipe that I can bake for myself.

  312. My favorite food would be (as of right now) tomatoes with basil. I would love to have another very small spatula. The cookbook I would love the most is the breakfast cookbook, it is the meal I have the most struggles without eggs.

  313. 1) My favourite food is definitely sushi! I could eat it until I explode
    2) Hmmm..as far as a kitchen tool I’d like to own goes probably a sifter or a spiralizer or really anything out of the ordinary! I’m in university and just got my first apartment so I pretty much only have the basics right now.
    3) Any cookbook with dessert in it is one I dream of :)

  314. My favorite food is falafel – always. And I would LOVE love love a vitamix. OR a a hand immersion blender will work too. I actually would LOVE to get my hands on one of your cookbooks. I think I may order one soon. Thanks!

  315. 1) Favorite food: mac n’ cheese
    2) Food Processor and/or mandoline
    3) Vegan Artisan Cheeses

  317. RICKI!!!! I am so happy for you! I know this has been a goal of yours for a long time!! I can’t wait to see the new recipes, too! There are so many SF recipes I want to use revised!

    xoxoxoxo!!!
    Amy

  318. Congrats on the new book!
I would have to say my favorite food is guacamole’
I would love, love, love to have an infuser pitcher to make infused waters.
And for the cookbook…YOURS, of course!

  319. Cristina Favreau says:

I know I’m chiming in late with this, but I would LOVE a remake of your carrot cake. It’s a staple in our house, but we are going completely gluten-free for 2013 and your original recipe calls for spelt flour.

    Just my 2 cents :)
