Some people say that having a dog is like taking care of a three year old–forever. Sometimes, when The Girls engage in their morning play rituals, I think those people are right.
Here’s a little glimpse into canine sibling relationships. . . .it all starts when Chaser wants to play (which is pretty much all the time, come to think of it):
[“Hey, Elsie, c’mon, let’s play!”
“Don’t bug me, kid.”]
[“Awww, c’mon, Elsie, don’tcha wanna play? Huh? Can we? Can we play? Huh? How ’bout now? Let’s play! Do you wanna? Now? C’mon–“]
[“I. . . SAID. . . GRRRRRROWWWWLLLLLLL!! I WILL EAT YOU NOW!!!”]
[“Oh, ha ha! You don’t scare me. . . look, my mouth is just as big as yours. So now, let’s PLAY!!“]
[“Oops, wait a sec–looks like Dad might have food. . . nope. False alarm.”]
[Wrestle. . . wrestle. . . snap. . . nip. . . growl. . . tumble. . .paw. . . wrestle. . ]
[“Aw, thanks, Elsie! I love you. . . you’re my favorite sister.”]
[“Suddenly I’m feeling very tired again. . . I think it might be time for a nap. . . “]
[“You said it. . . I’m pooped.”]
that’s really, really cute.
Ricki! I love your dogs, they are sweet and so are the photos. Thanks for sharing!
I miss being around dogs. so much. give some love to your babies for me!
Goodness.
How adorable those Girls are.
My Poppy has been ‘humping’ our cat Rosie as though she were a male dog. She has none of the equipment, of course, but it does make for a very amusing (and completely weird) thing.
Hmm. P’raps that was too much information…
Awwww your puppies! I’m SO in love!
LOL I laughed so hard at seeing this! It’s so typical!!
I think this is my favorite post ever!
Molly and Henry have some strange sibling rituals too. For example, Molly has no interest in bones… until she realizes that Henry wants it! Then she’ll chew/guard/hide that bone with her life, and nothing– not even DINNER– will get her away from it!
They are TOO CUTE. I can’t handle all the cute in this post.
Ricki, this post truly touched me, since it makes me think even MORE of my beloved Kiwi (whom you may remember me blogging about quite often, and whom I lost this past June).
Aww! I love your girls. This has just made my day.
Oh puppy love! Killing us with cute you are! I cannot wait for Guppy to get a little bigger so we can get a dog of our own (you know, so she doesn’t stuff crayons up its nose or something toddleresque).
Lucy,
Too funny. (And anyone with pets already has all that information, right?). That’s one dog ritual we’ve avoided in our house, so far. 😉
VeggieGirl,
Aw, hope this didn’t make you sad! I can’t even THINK about losing one of The Girls, really.
Shellyfish,
You must go for it. There’s nothing like a pup! (well, w/o crayons up the nose, that is) 🙂 .
I’ve been wanting to try blended barley, but the last two times I’ve been to my local HFS, they’ve been out! Ah well, luckily there are many other grains in the sea… err, pantry?
Gawd, they’re cute! I always think it’s funny that the sweetest, most precious pups can turn so scary when they get snarly! The second picture from the bottom is so funny…yoga dog!
They’re so much fun and so sweet too. They must be a constant source of entertainment for you.
I miss my little dog so much, and I’m sure his dog sister does too.
I WUFF them! Seriously how cute.
Awww! I love the girls 🙂 Need to get me some of my own 😉
My favorite photo is of Chaster all curled up in a compact bundle. Such a snuggly one!
As I’m writing this, I’m listening Henry and my parents dog Elsa in the living room doing exactly what Elsie and Chaser do.
Too cute 🙂
The girls are SO adorable!! They remind me of my family’s two dogs when I was a little girl – one was a tiny Jack Russel, and one was a huge Great Dane, but they played together almost as though they were the same size! Thank you for bringing back wonderful memories!
they are such a delight. thanks foe sharing these pics.
