Last Minute Canadian Thanksgiving Recipe Suggestions

by Ricki Heller 13 Comments

[Carrot-Pecan Nutroast]

I have to admit that Thanksgiving snuck up on me this year. What with all the hubbub over a new cookbook, my full-time job at the college and a new part-time job as Associate Editor the new Simply Gluten-Free magazine, well, who has time to dream up a Thanksgiving menu? (I’ve been spending time being thankful that I’ve got all those things in my life right now!).

When I realized how late I was to the party, I considered skipping my annual recipe roundup. But then I thought, “Hey! if I’m this behind in my preparations, well, maybe someone else out there is, too. And, by Golly, I bet they’d appreciate a list of recipes they could make at the last minute!”

So, by Golly, here it is!

These are some of my current favorite holiday-worthy recipes from the blog. (And don’t forget there are more anti-candida friendly recipes in my Anti-Candida Feast ebook (specifically holiday-themed), Desserts without Compromise and Good Morning! Breakfasts.)  🙂

To all my Canadian friends and relatives, I wish you all a happy, healthy, safe holiday weekend! And if you’ve got a favorite Thanksgiving recipe to share, please leave a link in the comments section!

[NOTE: Not all recipes below are anti-candida friendly and/or gluten free.  Where I’ve added “A,” it indicates ACD-friendly; the number indicates which stage the recipe suits (eg, A-2+ means stage 2 and beyond; A-all means all stages, etc.). “GF” indicates gluten free.  Other recipes contain spelt or barley flour, or other natural sweeteners (maple syrup, Sucanat, etc.). You can replace Sucanat with coconut sugar to render many of these ACD-friendly. ]

Ricki, this post was worth reading just to see your code! 😉 But I love the reminder on all your terrific recipes and that almost all of these recipes are gluten free. 🙂 I bet many people are including you and Diet, Dessert and Dogs in their own giving of thanks! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving tomorrow!

    Hugs,
    Shirley

Thanks so much, Johanna! Every week this year has flown by–I am always feeling as if I’m behind. So really, it won’t feel like Thanksgiving to me until next month! 😉

Wow Ricki, this is an incredible round-up. Can’t wait to share it around. And I am a little last minute too, simply because I forgot to get squash at the market. Now I need a plan b for tomorrow’s dinner (it was going to be stuffed squash)! I’ll be looking through your list. Hope you get some serious downtime soon! xo
