Following an anti-candida diet can be challenging–no doubt about it. When I first started my diet, I was determined to make it work and stick with it, no matter what.
But, despite my best efforts, I fell off the wagon. . . with disastrous results. For those of you who may not know my story, here’s the abridged version, leading up to my lowest point on the diet, what happened, and how I got over it.
If you’re struggling to stick with your own restricted diet, whether an anti-candida diet, gluten-free diet, sugar-free diet, or some other special dietary regime, I hope this will help to show you that there is a way out.

Thank you for sharing your struggles, Ricki. I’ve had a similar experience of going off the wagon with an organic, gluten-free. sugar-free date square. Who could resist, right? It sparked the cravings emotionally first, I believe. Carbs are such a stress reducer! Which of course led to a Candida flair up after a 2 year cleanse. I feel like it’s the feeling of failure and the hard reality of how severe my Candida is that makes it hard for me to get on track again. I’m emotional eater and I would overindulge in the “permissible treats” Do you know where to get the best deal on Stevia?
So sorry to hear about your experience, Linda. Please don’t give up! It does get easier to follow each time. And I firmly believe that everyone can get better. My personal feeling is that the permissible treats are still better for your body than sugar! I don’t actually have any deals on stevia–I just buy it at my local health food store. The liquid can last a long time, so even though it’s expensive, I do try to keep at least 2-3 flavors on hand. My preferred brands are NuNaturals and SweetLeaf. 🙂
