Spoiler alert: This is a post about Thanksgiving recipes (Americans, avert your eyes!)
Okay, Americans, you don’t really have to avert your eyes. It’s just that I know all of you in the US aren’t even thinking about Thanksgiving right now (there’s Halloween coming in between, after all), but up here in Great Frozen Canuck Land, we celebrate our thanks for the harvest (plus our gratitude for all things Canadian, like Tim Horton’s, poutine, Ryan Gosling, cloudberries, politeness, the NHL and HBO Canada) in the middle of October. Are we calendar-challenged? Are we simply trying to get ahead of our American cousins in at least one area, finally? Are we just hungrier? Who knows!
If you’re anything like me when it comes to cooking for the holidays, you wait until the last day guest has arrived possible second to plan your meal. Well, this gal is trying a new approach for 2013!
With Thanksgiving only a week away, I determined to get myself organized in advance of the holiday and went looking for a bunch of Thanksgiving recipes from which to choose. Today, I’m sharing the list with you all (Americans, you are more than welcome to come back here prior to November 28th).
And true, just because this list exists doesn’t actually mean I’ll get that menu planned on time. . . but at least it’s a start.
Wishing you all a very Happy and Healthy Thanksgiving this year!
Please note: all recipes are vegan, free of refined sugars and gluten-free, unless otherwise noted.

Thanks for including me in this roundup! I love the early Thanksgiving spirit.
My pleasure! We celebrate it a bit earlier here in Canada. 🙂
What a list Ricki! You’re awesome, thank you for putting it together.
Thanks, Janae! (And you are pretty awesome, too). 🙂
just as well we don’t have thanksgiving – I don’t think I could cope with it right now (even seeing christmas decorations in the supermarket is scary enough) – but I do wish I could cook lots of these recipes as they look wonderful and a helpful guide.
Thanks, Johanna! I agree with you–not sure I can cope with it right now, either, but guess I will–LOL! 😀
So many tasty recipes here! I wish we had more holidays here. No thanksgiving and Halloween is hardly acknowledged either 🙁 Not that that will get in the way of me trying some of these ‘holiday’ dishes…
Aw, so sorry! But yes, you can certainly save any of these for just about any holiday (birthday coming up–??) 😀
Here I am! early on a Monday morning bookmarking almost everything on this list!! Many health issues in my family and this list instantly took the frustration (and many hours!) of searching for GF, vegan, dairy free Thanksgiving food. I’m in Canada, and Thanksgiving is coming up soon…THANK YOU for already making it a great holiday!! 🙂
Laurie, YAY!! So glad to hear that you’ve found lots to eat here! Truthfully, that’s why I decided to do this. . .so I’d have lots of options for my OWN Thanksgiving next week! 😀
Thanks so much for including my recipe and posting such a great round up!
My pleasure, Kathy! It sounds like SUCH a yummy recipe! 🙂
Oh I am in Thanksgiving heaven. It truly is a fabulous holiday – so much great food! I love it. Now I have no excuse but to make my Thanksgiving menu! Thanks for sharing my recipes too. xo
My pleasure, Maggie! I’m starting to get in the spirit with all this food around–LOl! 🙂
Love this post. It takes the work out of searching for great Thanksgiving recipes. The ultimate in lazy!
Ha ha! Well, I have to admit I did it for that very reason. . . I didn’t want to have to think too much about what to make this year!! 😉
What a fabulous selection of recipes Ricki! Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving Weekend – I’m sort of familiar with it now my son lives over there, I love hearing about how they celebrate it 🙂
Thanks, Vicky! It’s a great weekend for relaxing and spending time with loved ones. I hope your son has a lovely time!
Hi Ricki, What a lovely list of recipes, what a shame we don’t have thanksgiving in Australia, Will have to keep til christmas time, which is coming very fast. Of course I have my daughters and husbands birthdays before then. What I love about Canada is the Murdoch Mysteries, my families favorite tv show. I can’t wait to visit one day. Glad you liked the photos of the dogs. they are rather special.Your book has just arrived in the mail so can’t wait to start baking. It’s beautifully presented.
My goodness, Ricki. This is quite a list. Thank you for all your hard work putting it together! Great recipes. And some new bloggers for me to check out.
Thanks, Amber! Took a while to compile, but I figure I’ll have my recipes set for the next 5-10 years, now. 😉
Wow, Ricki, I can’t believe I’m only finding you now! And you’re Canadian to boot! I look forward to exploring your site. Thanks for compiling these recipes. I’ll be enjoying some of them on my Thanksgiving table this weekend. My husband, the gardener’s, rational as to why we have Thanksgiving a month earlier than the US is because we are further North, so the big harvest and pre-snow celebration is earlier. Makes sense to me.
Hi Lisa–thanks for your comment! I think your husband is probably correct. . . it *is* quite a bit cooler up here, eh? 😉
Hope you and yours have a very Happy Thanksgiving! 😀
Yay! Love it!
Thanks, Melissa! 🙂
Thanks for the amazing recipes!! I have been gf for 3 years, but have just discovered a HOST of new food allergies and food related issues. I am so grateful to have such an amazing resource in one place for great fall/winter recipes. You have just greatly simplified part of my life! 🙂
So great to hear that, Jeri! That was what I was hoping to do. 😀
Wow Ricki, your pecan pie looks so good! I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy of your book. If you need anyone to promote/review/host a giveaway in the UK, don’t hesitate to give me a shout 😉
I love the sound of all the recipes you’ve collated for Thanksgiving. Though we don’t have a specific Thanksgiving day here, I’d love to use some of these recipes during the December festive holidays. Thank you so much for sharing your collection with us xx
Thank you so much, Sharon! I’d say all these recipes would be suitable for any festive meal during cooler weather, actually. . . .so hope you find something you can use!
And I’ll email you. 🙂
What an awesome list! These recipes looks delicious! Can’t wait to try them. Thank you so much for this 🙂
Best regards from Iceland,
Jóhanna
Thanks so much, Johanna, and for commenting! Are you celebrating over there–or just looking for yummy, festive dishes? 😀 Enjoy your weekend either way!
Thanks so much, Lee! Hope you liked the porridge. And we did have a lovely Thanksgiving! 😀
THANK YOU SO MUCH. Can you please do us a favor and mark which ones are Gluten-Free? You’re totally saving me this Thanksgiving, thank you so much!!!!
Veronica, they should all be gluten-free, but I’ll double check all the recipes just to be sure! 🙂
Okay, just checked–I’ve labeled those that aren’t gluten free. 🙂
Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for the list! I’ll be trying a lot of these recipes. 🙂
Also, I was wondering if anyone could give me advice… My non-vegan family is kindly keeping this thanksgiving vegetarian/vegan, which makes me very happy. But we’re going to go have an early thanksgiving meal at my grandma’s house, and she’s going to be serving turkey… I’m really worried because I don’t know how to handle being around meat without feeling sick/anxious/guilty/horrible or having an anxiety attack. Does anyone know how to help cope with that?
Again, thank you for the wonderful recipes! <3 omnomnom.
Love your Thanksgiving recipes and I’m sharing them with my readers in my Thanksgiving on the Candida Diet roundup this week 🙂
Yum!:) THANKS for all these wonderful recipes! I pinned several and can’t wait to try your Bon-Bons!:) Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanks so much, Heather! And same to you! 😀
Great round up Ricki!!!
Thanks, Lexie! Hope yours is a great one this year!! 🙂 xo
What a super — and well-curated — list you have here! Thanks so much for the time you obviously had to put into it last year. Will be making several of these, and with no stressing-out over provocative ingredients! Yay!
So glad to hear that, Lisa! I’ve been (slowly) updating it with more recent recipes, too–this may just become my “go-to” list forever more. 😉 Have a wonderful, stress-free holiday! 😀
Such an amazing collection of recipes!
Thanks, Dianne! 🙂
